The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, recognized as Adeyemo Mukaila, over the alleged defilement of a sufferer within the state.
The suspect was arrested after members of the general public reportedly apprehended him and handed him over to the police following an incident within the Ilupeju space of Ikire, Osun State.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspect was a good friend of the sufferer’s grandmother and steadily visited her residence, the place the sufferer lived.
The police alleged that someday in September 2026, the suspect referred to as the sufferer to gather some gadgets from him.
“On arriving at his residence, he allegedly dragged her into his room and sexually assaulted her.
“On October 2, the sufferer’s birthday, she visited the suspect at his workshop within the Ilupeju space of Ikire after shopping for biscuits for him as a birthday present.
“The suspect allegedly dragged the sufferer into a close-by bush and sexually assaulted her. He reportedly fled into the bush after noticing that individuals had seen them, whereas commuters reportedly pursued the sufferer and requested her what had occurred.
“The victim explained the incident to the commuters, who subsequently went after the suspect, apprehended him and handed him over to the police,” the assertion mentioned.
The command urged dad and mom and members of the general public to stay vigilant and report suspicious actions or legal actions to the closest police station or by means of established police emergency channels.
