“Today, the 11th of October 2026, we gathered here in Kano State in order to exercise our fundamental human rights and to associate freely in order to exchange ideas and educate ourselves on the need to send away the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Nigeria.”
“It is obvious to Nigerians that Tinubu has failed. It is obvious to all Nigerians that Tinubu has failed and there’s want for Nigerians to come back out and chase him away. But immediately as traditional and as half of the entrenched and systemic corruption, insecurity and recklessness and injustice of this nation, you possibly can see already that over 10 autos of cellular police have been stationed.
“They have been stationed here in order to prevent us from accessing the private venue which we paid for; we are to gather here to exercise our civic rights… This is even the more reason why Tinubu must go.” Hikima stated.
He said that he had a phone dialog with the Commissioner of Police in Kano who advised him that there was the necessity to inform the safety company concerning the meeting, however Hikima assured him that the gathering could be civil and operated inside the authorized boundaries.
“We usually are not criminals, we’re not thugs, we’re not hooligans and we have now not dedicated any offence. And there’s nothing fallacious with what we’re doing proper now.
“It is inside the bounds of the legislation. I need to say it clearly that yesterday the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, known as me on the cellphone and advised me that courtesy calls for that I inform them of this meeting. I stated, ‘Sir, our meeting is going to be in an enclosed environment within a perimeter and we are going to be civil, we are lawyers’.
“The provision of the legislation is obvious that you just not want police permission to have any gathering. The means you do it in your weddings is the way in which we have now the suitable to assemble right here in this occasion centre and maintain this programme. This is our understanding and the legislation has given us the suitable, below part 39 of the Constitution, to trade concepts and opinions.
“And we have now the suitable, below part 40, to affiliate and we have now the non-public liberty, below part 35, to do that. The police are oppressors. Tinubu should go. It is now clear that you just don’t need us to assemble and say and chant Tinubu should go. One of them even advised me that they haven’t any drawback with us however we simply shouldn’t put on this insignia; But I say We should put on this.
“It is our proper to do that. It shouldn’t be insulting. It shouldn’t be oppressive. It is nothing. It is completely political and the ban on political campaigning is bitter. Therefore, we’re going to do that. We are coming again. Yes, subsequent time we’re going to do it. We are doing it.
“The Court of Appeal decision stands. I do not need to inform any security agent to hold my rallies. Next time, we are going to protest; Next time we are going to demonstrate; next time we are going to hit the ground.” he added, amid chants of ‘Tinubu Must Go’.
