Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have taken over the top workplace of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in Benin City, following the arrest of officials of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) after the union launched into a strike.
Recall that the NUEE launched into a strike on October 19, 2026, over the non-implementation of the minimal wage, wage harmonisation and increments, stagnation in promotions, amongst different grievances.
The strike resulted in a blackout throughout BEDC’s franchise states.
