The Ogun State House of Assembly has handed a decision supporting the consideration of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Sixth Alteration) Bill, 2026, which seeks to ascertain State Police Services.
The decision, titled “H.R. No. 194/OG/2025 Consideration of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) (Sixth Alteration) Bill, 2026 (Establishment of State Police Services),” was handed following the presentation of a report by the Ad Hoc Committee on Constitutional Review, chaired by a former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo.
Oluomo introduced the committee’s report masking 26 clauses and proposed amendments to varied sections of the Constitution. He took the proposed amendments one after one other, with members voting in favour of all of the clauses and sections.
