The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has launched the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Emission Tracker (NOGIET), a technology-driven platform designed to enhance methane monitoring, reporting and regulatory enforcement.
A press release by NUPRC’s, Head, Media and Corporate Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, mentioned the platform seeks to strengthen its drive to obtain Nigeria’s 60 % methane emissions discount goal by 2035.
NOGIET was formally handed over to the Commission Chief Executive of the NUPRC, Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, on the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
