The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, has tackled the Trade Union Congress, TUC, over its stance on the not too long ago permitted N70,000 month-to-month transport allowance for public staff by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, Ajaero mentioned the TUC had by no means negotiated for an intervention amid the rising value of dwelling within the nation.
Ajaero defined that when the NLC was asking the federal government for an intervention, the TUC seemed the opposite manner.
According to Ajaero, the TUC can not problem the intervention for staff when it’s apparent that the NLC had been working alone all alongside.
He mentioned, “You do not kick against one thing you didn’t ask for or negotiate for. And you have requested for something all these years, instantly one thing was given to NLC and you now say you are kicking against it. TUC by no means requested for intervention because of rising value of dwelling.
“Why is TUC difficult what was gotten for the employees once we acknowledged clearly that NLC was appearing alone?”
Recall that the TUC had rejected the N70,000 transport allowance for staff, demanding N300,000 as a substitute.
Tinubu’s authorities had permitted a N70,000 month-to-month transport allowance for public staff amid a gas value hike and requires a evaluation of the minimal wage.
