The farmers, who gathered on the native authorities headquarters in Song city, accused herders of permitting their cattle to stray into farmlands and destroy crops.
The protesters, largely from Orr Mountain, Djarakin, Didango, Loko, Kichiu, Hombo, Garin-Tuwo and Balma communities, carried placards with inscriptions together with, “Governor Fintiri, Save Us. Our Farmlands Have Been Destroyed,” “We Say No to Destruction of Farms” and “We Need Peace and Government Intervention.”
At the Song Council Secretariat, the Council Information Officer, Vincent Baldeno, who obtained the farmers on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Idris Yahaya, assured them that their grievances could be communicated to the suitable authorities.
The space isn’t talked about in studies of insecurity, together with herder-farmer clashes, communal conflicts and insurgency.
