The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has unveiled plans to conduct a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, centre in Ottawa, Canada, from 2027.
The Board made this recognized on its official social media platforms after a go to by its Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa.
Professor Aina acknowledged that the centre will make eligible Nigerians residing in Canada and different components of North America to take part in the UTME with out travelling to Nigeria particularly for the examination.
“The proposed centre will make it easier for Nigerians in the diaspora to sit for the UTME without travelling to Nigeria solely for the examination,” the board mentioned.
According to the Board, the initiative was a part of its efforts in direction of taking Nigerian tertiary schooling to the world.
JAMB additional acknowledged that the proposed centre would enhance the connection between Nigerians overseas and the Nigerian schooling system.
It added that the initiative would additionally create larger alternatives to showcase Nigerian tertiary schooling internationally.
“For Nigerians in Canada, the UTME is coming closer to home,” JAMB mentioned.
